Pastel Highlighter Wars: Stabilo vs. Pilot Frixion

Unicorn: a mythical creature that popularized "pastel colors." Many people got hooked with pastel things. From journalizing stuffs, school supplies, and apparel, to cafΓ©s, pastel colors have been a trend.

Because of this, many brands released their own pastel-color line. Recently, Stabilo released its Stabilo Pastel-Colored Highlighters. Many pastel colors enthusiasts rushed to bookstores and grabbed the chance to own these promising highlighters. These highlighters sold quickly, and became out of stock for a long time.

Pilot followed the trend and released thier Frixion Pastel Higlighters. It combined the pastel trend and its well-known frixion feature, allowing users to erase their highlight.

(I failed to get the soft blue 😟)

If you are planning to buy these highlighters but lacks budget to buy both, here are some pros and cons of the products to help you decide what to get.

Stabilo has vibrant colors than those of Pilot. The shades are eye-catching, and they complement each other. However, because it is too vibrant, Milky Yellow looks like a neon color than a pastel one. What I don't like about Stabilo is it's overflowing ink. Well, it is not really a bad thing, but if you are using a thin or average sheet of paper, it will scatter not only at the end of the highlighted word but also at the back of the paper. Another con of this product is that it is always out of stock.

On the other hand, Pilot has more subtle colors. Because the color is too light, it looks a bit boring. It is perferct if you don't like messy highlights, since the ink is just right, unlike that of Stabilo. It is easier to handle, and the best thing is that it is erasable. It is also hard to complete the colors,  but it replenishes it stocks faster.

PRICE:
Stabilo: 34.75 php
Pilot: 36.25 php

Final Verdict
Both brands have their own pros and cons. I like Stabilo better when it comes to color, because the colors are so cute and vibrant. When it comes to packaging, I will go for Pilot since the ink is just right, it is easy to handle, and it is erasable.

These are my thoughts about Stabilo and Pilot Pastel Highlighters, how about yours?

MediCard's Health Check Review

Whenever we feel something wrong in our body, we want to figure it out so we can address it immediately. Unfortunately, sickness sometimes happens when you least expect it, therefore, it's hard to be prepared. It is the best if you have health card or cash on hand, but what if you don't have any?

I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This syndrome, however, has no known cure. It is needed for me to visit the doctor every month so that she can check my progress whether or not my menstruation came back to normal. I still don't have a normal menstrual cycle up to now, sad to say.

I had been to four hospital/clinics already, and whenever I visit, my wallet cries in pain. The doctor will just have a quick chit chat, then viola! Goodbye 500 PHP. Hello more or less 1000 worth of medicine.

I felt tired, physically and financially, so I decided to stop and just wait for my monthly visitor, but it never came. I was really worried because I know it was not normal, so I decided to find another clinic or hospital to start another treatment. Luckily, as I was passing along the busy road of Fairview, I saw MediCard’s free standing clinic. It offers wide a selection of memberships, depending on your needs. I immediately signed up to their “Health Check”. The membership fee cost me 500 Php.

I was surprised with the price, because it comes with unlimited consultation, and a flat rate of 350 Php for specialists. In addition to that, health check members get to enjoy 20% discounts on laboratory procedures, and a free annual check up, everything good for one year!

(Check out this flyer to know more about Health Check)

I was really relieved because I don’t need to pay anything whenever I visit the clinic. I just need to call for an appointment and I will be accommodated on the appointment date. Moreover, my OB Gyne, Dra. Lampitoc, is very accommodating and friendly. She really explains my condition very well, so I feel at ease.

For now, I am scheduled for a transvaginal ultrasound to check if I still have polycystic ovaries. The procedure will cost me less than a thousand, compared to my previous hospital’s fee that is 1,500 Php.

I will create a blog regarding my fight against PCOS, so please stay tuned and subscribe 😊 Thank you for reading!

Dr. Alvin's Rejumax Rejuvinating Set Review

It has always been my dream to have a fair and glowing skin. I tried so many products, hoping that I would find a perfect product for my sensitive face. There are many good products in the market, but nothing has given me the results that I wanted, until I find Dr. Alvin's Rejumax Set.

Dr. Alvin's Professional Skin Care Products created a hype as it became popular for effectively "peeling" one's dead skin. Once the dead skin was removed, you will achieve a fresh and glowing skin you always wanted.

Because of my curiosity on this product, I purchased their new formulation, called "rejumax." It has three levels: No. 1 which is the mild version, no. 2, and the strongest, no. 3.
Since it is my first time, I opt to use the mild formulation.

The package comes with the following:
✅ Kojic Acid Soap
✅ Rejumax No. 1 Toner
✅ Soothing Cream
✅ Sunblock with SPF15
✅ Manual on how to use the product

How to maximize the product:

➡ I cut the kojic soap into cubes. This is an effective way if you want the soap to last longer.
➡ Put a small drop of toner. A little comes a long way with this product so this will last for one month, the ideal period of using this set.
➡ Apply the soothing cream thinly onto your face. Again, a little comes a long way.
➡ The sunblock is a great primer if you like to put make up. It not only protects you from the harmful rays of the sun but also gives you a fresh matte finish.

⛔ Beware of fake products. Always ask for a receipt with Dr. Alvin's logo in it.

The set costed me 400 pesos.

RESULTS
I am still yet to finish my set. It is already good for one month so I think it's worth the money. I call it "investment."

This is my picture few days before I started my regimen.

In my first week, I honestly wanted to stop using it, because to be honest, it stings. Mahapdi po siya. 😩

On my third day, it started to peel. What I like about the product is it only gives micropeeling.

(lol, I was wearing the same outfit πŸ˜‚)
A cutesy pimple showed up, but that's normal. It dried up after continual use of the product.

After 10 days, I can feel and see that my skin is much better than before ❤
This picture was taken right after I woke up. No hilamos yet. There's an ant bite on my under eye though πŸ˜‚

This is my face after I washed it with Kojic Soap. I really love the glowing effect!

This is my latest picture after 10 days of using the product. There are still more days left and I am looking forward to seeing the results!

❤Pros:
- it is affordable
- it really made my skin fairer and better

πŸ’”Cons:
- stingy feeling for the first week
- the toner doesn't smell that good

I will keep this blog updated so stay tuned. Thank you for reading my skin care journey! ❤

XOXO, Arianne 🐷

*UPDATE*
Sorry if it took so long but here are my pictures after one month. :)

I am now using Belo skin care and Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel to help my skin recover from micropeeling (I will make a review about those products soon).

I can say that Dr. Alvin's really works :) Thumbs Up!
